Duck's Bio

image of duckI was born in 1949 in the small town of Kremmling, Colorado and attended Longmont High School in Longmont, CO. I had my first paying gig ($5 for singing a couple of Beatles songs at a church teen night) on February 14, 1964, and has been playing fairly regularly since. Some of the bands in Ron's murky history are The Strokers, Quincy Street Rock Orchestra, Corrupters, Mary Jane Bann'd, Corrupters mk.II, The Mystery, Plan B, Cheaters, and Oh No Yo Yo.
Present location - Boulder-Springs and Solace Creek, Colorado
*Married - 3 grown children
*Hobbies — sailing, rock and roll
*Writer -  Buy Duck's Books at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Borders, and more...

Favorite radio station
: 995 the Mountain

First car
—1957 Ford Fairlane 500... crashed it with Guitarosaurus Dave on board in 1966.

Favorite
— 1962 Austin Healey 3000 BJ7 (my second AH) that had a little plate on the dashboard that said "Do Not Open Windows in Excess of 130 MPH" - 3 dual Stromberg carburetors and a passel of Lucas gauges.)

Gear Stuff

duck's first gigFirst Instrument: Electro acoustic Harmony, bought with my life savings, along with a 15 watt Silvertone amplifier, on February 10, 1964, the day after the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan — picture at right.

I had a 63 blonde Fender Jazzmaster that I really wish I still had.

We drug a red electric six string behind my Fairlane from a Corrupters show in Craig, Colorado back to Longmont, several hundred miles... and over Trail Ridge Road. (that sucker probably would have been worth a chunk today, too.)

Present Gear - As Tom says, "Way more than I need."... but then again, I'm always shopping.  Like the huge majority of Boomer musicians who discovered Guitar Center when they were finally making a buck or two, I went a little crazy.  Boomersaurus is brand new, so I haven't really decided what my "gig-rig" will be, but likely:

  • Keys: 1980's Yamaha DX-7, EMU-B3 emulator module, Korg RK-100 remote keyboard.
  • Guitars: 68 Fender Mustang, 99 Strat, 99 Les Paul, 99 Rickenbacker 360/12V64 reissue, 1970s 12 over 6 Ibanez SG mahogany doubleneck, Ovation electric/acoustic, possibly my Tele and Martin.
  • Amplification: Marshall Valvestate 65, Behringer K120 Keyboard amp, VOX Pathfinder 15 (for effect), and Crate GX15 to drive a Heil talk box.
  • I imagine each Boomersaurus gig could be a little different, so I'll pick and choose from my toolbox.

Movies I have starred in

  • A leading role in "The Down Button", a Rick Lynxwood film, Fauble/Woodson productions, as Jon Noman.
  • A leading role in "Tickets", a Ruan Keith film, Definitive Productions, as Dominic Donatelli.

Favorite movie: Bullitt, Animal House

Favorite song
: A Zillion of them.... Satisfaction, Boom Boom, Crossroads, ad infinitum.
